Yacht Club Silver Racing Tankard awarded to yacht 'Alarm'

Acquisition of Royal Yacht Club silver-gilt tankard, 1830, by John Bridge, of Rundell, Bridge and Rundell of London. This is a yachting trophy won by Joseph Weld with his cutter Alarm, at the Royal Yacht Club (later Royal Yacht Squadron) Regatta of 21 August 1830. Called the King's Cup, this tankard was the gift of William IV, and is decorated with a panel of Neptune in relief, royal armorials and decorative friezes. The hinged lid is surmounted by a lion, and inside the lid is a medallion of William IV.
