Wordsworth Circle Portraits and Papers

Acquisition of a collection of portraits, drawings and papers relating to the circle of poets commemorated at Dove Cottage. These include a Samuel Taylor Coleridge portrait by Sir George Dance, Hartley Coleridge portrait by Sir David Wilkie, a sketch and painting of Beaumont and J Farrington painting a waterfall by Thomas Hearne. Also c fifty drawings of Lake District subjects made by Sir George Beaumont on a tour in 1798. Two letters from William and Dorothy Wordsworth to the Sir G and Lady Beaumont, dated February 1808, one of which includes 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud'.
