William Figg Collection of Maps
Acquisition at auction of a group of maps to complete the East Sussex Record Office's holdings of the Figg Collection - plans and maps of the County of Sussex spanning 100 years from 1746 to the early 1850s, assembled by William Figg and his son, William Figg the Younger, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The greater part of the archive was given to the Sussex Archaeological Society in 1960 - now in the East Sussex record office - but the best maps were retained by the owner.
