Acquisition of painting by Arthur Nelson (1766 - 1771/90) showing an early, detailed view of Britain's principal Channel port in the mid 18th century. One of only two known topgraphical representations of Dover showing the castle some years before the advent of the war with France which made so many changes to the town.
