Tudor Drinking Pots

Acquisition of two silver-mounted Tudor drinking pots, one of tin-glazed earthenware known as 'The West Malling Jug' and the other a glass tankard, were offered for sale. The West Malling Jug has silver gilt mounts hallmarked for London 1581, maker's mark WHE. Silver mounted glass tankard: glass body of bulbous form and applied handle made of vetro a retorti in turquoise and white canes; silver-gilt mounts marked for London 1548, maker's mark PR.
