Tiddesley Wood, Pershore
Acquisition of 999-year lease on 168-acre Tiddesley Wood near Pershore, one of the largest remaining semi-natural ancient woodlands in south Worcestershire. In the early 1980’s Worcestershire Wildlife Trust was able to purchase the freehold from the Church Commissioners and a long lease that had been made to the Forestry Commission. This enabled the Trust to restore the woodland to its former glory through a programme of conifer removal and through the re-introduction of traditional coppicing, which would promote the outstanding woodland flora and fauna for which it had been designated a Site of Special Interest.
