Study for Madonna del Pesce by Raphael

Acquisition of a drawing, one of two which Raphael undertook in preparation for the painting Madonna del Pesce which is now in the Prado. It is probably that the painting was commissioned by the Dominicans for the Capella del Duce in San Domenico, Naples. It depicts the Madonna and Chiled enthroned between the archangel Tobias with his fish, and St Jerome. Executed between c 1513-1514 in brown wash heightened with white on black chalk.
