Southwick Coast, Kirkcudbrightshire
Acquisition of a 40 acre coastal site on the Solway Firth near the village of Southwick. The fossil cliff-line of the site, with hanging oakwoods, includes the rock features known as Needle's Eye and Lot's Wife, and as the land drops to the merse on the shore it harbours rare plants such as Holygrass. Already scheduled as an SSSI, it is on the edge of the Inner Solway international scientific site.
