The Sidmouth Papers

Purchase of the correspondence of Henry Addington, 1st Viscount Sidmouth (1754-1844), sometime Speaker of the House of Commons, Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Home Secretary, his father, Dr Anthony Addington and others members of the family, which have been held on deposit at the Devon Record Office since 1955. The purchase will form part of a hybrid 'acceptance in lieu' arrangement and will secure the future of the records, on deposit at the Devon Record Office, and their availability to the public for research.
