Acquisition of Roundton Hill, Powys. Just north of Offa's Dyke, this hill of volcanic origin commandingly extends the Montgomeryshire border and offers eastward views across the Shropshire Hills AONB or westward to the Severn Valley. Rising to 1214 feet, Roundton Hill is an SSSI with rare plant communities somehow surviving the cropping of rabbits, and with whinchats, wheatear and tree pipits breeding on its steep slopes.
