Roman Bust of Empress Livia
Acquisition at auction of Parian marble portrait bust of Empress Livia Drusilla, wearing a dress, ears pierced for metal earrings, now missing. Head turned slightly to the left. It dates from around the end of the first century BC or the beginning of the first century AD. From the collection of antique sculpture formed by the Hon James Smith Barry in 1776 at Marbury Hall in Cheshire.
