Acquisition, from a private owner in America, of a navigational sextant, part of a scientific equipment taken by Captain James Cook on his third voyage to the Pacific in 1776. Made by the famous 18th century instrument-maker, Jesse Ramsden of London, for the Board of Longtitude.
