Portrait of James Watt by von Breda

Acquisition of portrait of James Watt by the Swedish artist Carl Frederik von Breda (1759-1818) The painting is signed and dated 1792. One of three known versions of an oil by von Breda, the others being at the National Portrait Gallery and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. This is the earliest known portrait of Watt.
