Ouse Washes, Wildlife Trust Reserve 1

Acquisition of 23 and a half acres of Ouse Washes in autumn 1981. The Ouse Washes Nature Reserve area in Cambridgeshire is an internationally important stretch of wetland, a Grade I SSSI, and is the winter refuge for countless wildfowl and the summer breeding ground of several species of rare bird. This long narrow stretch of washland is managed as a nature reserve jointly by the RSPB, The Cambridge and Isle of Ely Naturalists'' Trust and the Wildfowl Trust.
