Nene Washes

Acquisition of land at Nene Washes in the Cambridgeshire Fens. The regular flooding and traditional grassland management have preserved much of the fenland wildlife. The landscape is exceptionally open, with numerous small field divided by over 40km of ditches. The reserve is important for breeding waterfowl, including nationally important numbers of garganey, spotted crakes and black tailed godwits. In winter, the whole washlands attract internationally important numbers of waterfowl.
