The Homestead and the Forest is a child’s cot quilt designed by May Morris, daughter of William Morris, pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement. Designed by May and embroidered by her mother, the quilt shows Kelmscott Manor, the Morris family home, as a protected homestead, offering safety from the wilds of the forest. After more than 70 years in private hands, this important work will now have a permanent home at Kelmscott Manor and remain accessible to public audiences.
