Acquisition at auction of large areas of Lower Kingcombe, 600 acres situated near Toller Porcorum, ten miles from Dorchester. It has been recorded as a farm since the reign of Henry VIII. At its heart is a hamlet consisting of a small number of cottages and farm buildings in poor repair. The land is divided into numerous small, irregularly connected fields and copses is of varied geology, comprising chalk, upper greensand, gault clay and fullers earth and hence supports a great variety of vegetation. 320 acres of the land has been declared an SSI.
