Lothian Archive

Acquisition of the archive of the Kerr family, Marquises of Lothian. This very large archive contains the papers of a successful cultivate and influential Scottish family. It runs from the first half of the 12th century right up to the diplomatic papers of the 11th Marquis who died in 1940. The archive had been on deposit with the Scottish Record Office since 1931.
