Hugh MacDiarmid Archive

Acquisition of papers of C M Grieve (1892-1978), poet, journalist and political activist, who wrote under the name 'Hugh MacDiarmid'. The documents in the archive date mainly from 1918-1989, and consist for the most part of literary papers with some documents relating to his family and personal affairs. The literary papers include manuscripts, typescripts and proofs of published and unpublished poetry and prose works, including books, articles and lectures. There are also diaries and notebooks, correspondence, including files of letters from various members of his family and some financial papers.
