Hawker Hurricane 1941

Acquisition and transportation of fifth oldest surviving example of Hawker Hurricane aircraft. The World War II fighter plane was built and test flown at Brooklands and delivered to the RAF in July 1941. Following service in Cornwall and Lincolnshire, it was shipped to Russia in 1942 where its was shot down in combat in the Murmansk region. The remains of the aircraft were identified in 1996 and, although corroded in places, much of it was found to be substantially intact. Removed to storage in St Petersburg, it was offered for sale.
