George II Silver Centrepiece

George II silver centrepiece 'machine' or 'surtout compleat', 1731-32, comprising a central tureen with detachable branches for 4 candlesticks, 6 casters (2 large, 4 smaller), 4 glass, silver mounted cruets and 4 small dishes. Made by the leading Huguenot goldsmiths David Willaume and his sister Anne Tanqueray for Cholmley Turner of Kirkleatham, MP for York. His arms are engraved on the dishes and his crest on the detachable pieces. Provenance: by descent through his wife's family the Marwoods of Busby Hall; Sotheby's 1963.
