Flitwick Moor Bedfordshire
Acquisition of Flitwick Moor, which lies in the parishes of Flitwick and Flitton, approximately 15 kilometres south of Bedford. The Trust already owned 26 acres of the site: this acquisition added a further 54 acres. Site characterised by acidic valley mire and species-rich neutral grassland, with rare species of flowers, fungi, moss and liverworts, as well as associated insects, birds and mammals. Meadowsweet, golden saxifrage and sphagnum moss can be found on site and it is thought to be the only breeding location for water rail in the county.
