Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses, Shropshire

Acquisition of 1,960 acres of land straddling the border between Shropshire, England and Clwyd, Wales, known as Fenn's, Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses. The meres and mosses of the north west Midlands have developed in natural depressions in the glacial drift left by ice sheets which covered the Cheshire- Shropshire plain some 15,000 years ago.
