Acquisition from dealer of two 18th century clarinets in B-flat by English makers: a) Muraeus, London, c 1765. 6-key English (originally 5 keys). Boxwood with brass keys. Very few instruments by this maker survive. b) Clarinet in B-flat by John Hale, London, c 1785. 5 keys. Boxwood with ivory ferrules and bell-rim, brass keys.
