Earl (4th) of Sandwich Papers

Acquisition of papers of the 4th Earl Sandwich (1718-1792) . Diplomat, politician, administrator, Sandwich's career and papers span and reflect most of the major events of the mid-eighteenth century. He held office as First Lord of the Admiralty from 148-1792) and again from 1771-1782. The Sandwich papers include correspondence with almost every contemporary statesmen and over 300 letters from George III.
