Coed Cymerau Isaf, Ffestiniog
Acquisition of Coed Cymerau Isaf, which comprises 80 acres of upland oak woodland within Snowdonia National Park and is continuous with a large extent of oak woodland in the vale of Ffestiniog from Coedydd Maentwrog SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) to the south-west and Coed Cymerau NNR/SSSI adjacent to the western boundary. Within the woodland are a several fields of unimproved grassland and four areas of mire. The fields and two of the mires are fenced and under grazing management. The fields are associated with Cymerau Isaf farmhouse (which is under lease). Numerous old wall boundaries and stock pens are scattered through the woodland. There is a circular way-marked trail through the woods and a footpath track north-south is of archaeological interest as it is a section of the old Blaenau Ffestiniog to Maentwrog road.
