Clive Papers (India Office Library)

Acquisition of the Clive Papers which were deposited at the India Office Library, now part of the British Library, whilst the unsorted loose papers and bound volumes went to the National Library of Wales. Clive collection: correspondence, papers and accounts, mostly dated 1751-74, of Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive (1725-74), Governor of Bengal 1757-60 and 1765-67; also papers of his son Edward Clive, 2nd Baron Clive, later 1st Earl of Powis (1754-1839), Governor of Madras 1798-1803.
