Clark Microscope

Acquisition of simple pocket microscope in silver made by John Clark, Edinburgh, 1749. Mounted on a silver ring sent on ray skin covered case. The main body is hinged to fit into the case, with two simple lenses and a hinged mirror at the base with screw fitting below. This is one of the earliest scientific instruments to be designed, manufactured and retailed outside London.
