Chambers Charlemont Medal Cabinet

Acquisition of medal cabinet, 1767-8 of mahogany and other woods with ormolu mounts, designed by Sir William Chambers and made by Sefferin Alken and Diederich Nicolaus Anderson, for the first Earl of Charlemont. Three related drawings by Chambers were included in the purchase. The medal cabinet occupied one wall of the Library Pavilion in Charlemont's new house in Dublin, where it remained until circa 1870.
