Chair of State from the Palace of Westminster

Acquisition of a chair designed by Pugin for Prince Albert for the State Opening of Parliament in 1847. By 1900 the chair had disappeared, but turned up in 1984 at a provincial auction. The Chair was purchased by NHMF for Display at the Victoria and Albert Museum on the understanding that it would be lent back to the Palace of Westminster on appropriate occasions.
