Book of Hours, Use of Sarum

Acquisition of Book of Hours of the Use of Sarum, in Latin with some headings in Anglo-Norman. Illuminated manuscript on vellum, produced in Southern England, circa 1280-1290. Illuminated initials with full-length bar borders, incorporating drawings of animals, dragons and grotesques, one volume. It is one of only ten known English Books of Hours from the 13th century, and was probably the last in private hands.
