Acquisition of elaborate casket created circa 1180-1190 to house relics of Thomas Becket, made of Limoges enamel. It is a magnificent example of Romanesque art, probably made for an important religious house. Oak casket decorated with six engraved and champleve enamelled plaques. The plaques depict images of; the Martyrdom of St Thomas Becket, his funeral rites and burial, the flight of his soul to heaven, two figures of saints and the enthroned figure of Christ.
