Armada Relics

Acquisition by private treaty sale of an Elizabethan snaphaunce musket, wheel-lock pistol and powder flask. Family tradition has it that they were captured by Sir William Harris from one of the ships of the Spanish Armada and subsequently came to the Raymond family of Belchamp Hall, Essex. A staghorn panel on the butt (end) of the musket bears the date 1588 and as a result, this group of firearms and flask have been known as the Armada relics, but are all of English manufacture.
