Acquisition of a Landscape painting 'A View of Chiswick House' by Rysbrack

Purchase of a painting at auction: 'A View of Chiswick House from the South West' by Rysbrack. Auction took place at Sotheby's on 6th June 2007 - British Paintings Lot 66. The painting is displayed at Chiswick House and will form part of an exemplary addition to the works of art collection on the 'piano nobile', joining five others from a set of eight by Rysbrack that are displayed in the Green Velvet Room.

Rare painting saved

English Heritage has successfully purchased its sixth major artwork by renowned Dutch landscape artist Pieter Andreas Rysbrack (c.1685-1748).   The painting, entitled A view of Chiswick House from the south-west, was secured through the generous support of the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF), the London Historic House Museums Trust, the National Arts Collection, Friends of Chiswick House, and private individuals.
