Drawings for a house at 21 Arlington Street, London, by James Leoni

Acquisition of an album of 14 drawings with explanatory text for a house at 21 Arlington St, London, for Richard Boyle, 2nd Viscount Shannon, by James Leoni (c1686-1746). The drawings were made in 1738. Leoni, a Venetian, made himself known in this country with the publication of the first complete English edition of Palladio's Quattro Libri, which had a decisive influence on the course of 18th century architecture in this country.
