Thrust 2

Acquisition of the vehicle 'Thrust 2' built by Richard Noble's team to regain the world land speed record for Britain. The car was built in 1980 and put together through a whole host of sponsorship deals and supporters' club contributions. The vehicle acquired the record in 1983 at a speed of 633.468 mph, after failed attempts in the previous 2 years. It retained the title until 1997 when Thrust SSC broke it, exceeding the sound barrier for the first time. Thrust SSC is also part of the museum's permanent collection.
