Order of the Thistle Collar and Pendant Badge

Acquisition of gold and enamel collar of the Order of the Thistle made c 1708-9 by John Campbell of Lundie with pendant badge, 1825/6, by John James Edington, London. Collar consists of 34 links, 17 in the form of thistle and 17 in the form of rue. One of only ten manufactured between November 1707 and March 1708 by Campbell. It ws issued to Cosmo George, 3rd Duke of Gordon (c1720-1752) who was created a Knight of the Thistle on 10 February 1747.
