King's Cup for Leith Races

Acquisition of gold cup and cover made by the Edinburgh goldsmiths James Ker and William Dempster, Edinburgh, c 1751. Know as the 'The King's Prize', it was presented for horse racing at Leith in Edinburgh. Leith races became the most important sporting event in Scotland.
