2006 Aerofilms collection

With more than one million photographs and negatives of aerial views over England, Scotland and Wales, this archive forms a unique part of Britain’s photographic heritage. Founded in 1919 by L Willis and airmail innovator Claude Grahame-White, Aerofilms was one of the first commercial aerial photography companies in the world. The Royal Commission on the Ancient & Historical Monuments of Scotland were able to purchase the collection with the help of a £50,000 grant from the NHMF.
